Feathered Friends uses some of the highest-quality down on the market. The 950+ RDS goose down gives the quilt an outstanding warmth-to-weight ratio and consistent loft. This is the type of fill normally reserved for premium expedition gear—and it shows.

While this update isn’t advertised as increasing warmth, I can confidently say I never felt a single draft through the cinched footbox. As someone who often sleeps with cold feet and typically prefers sewn footboxes, this came as a pleasant surprise. Given the tighter, more durable weave of Diamond Fuse, it wouldn’t surprise me if it retains heat slightly better than more porous woven fabrics.

Feathered Friends claims the 40° Flicker packs down to about 5 liters, and that claim aligns perfectly with my experience. At just 1 lb 4 oz, this quilt practically disappears into your pack.
Even the stuff sack design is well thought out. It flattens the quilt into a low-profile shape that sits perfectly at the bottom of your pack—no more fighting the awkward “toilet-paper roll” shape that so many traditional stuff sacks create.
